Courchevel is split into different satellite villages at varying altitudes. Courchevel 1850 is not just the highest in terms of meters but also in terms of affluence. The sheer amount of top class hotels and chalets in this part of Courchevel is unrivalled in any other French winter resort. Courchevel 1650 has a different feel altogether and retains much of the authentic appeal of a traditional alpine town. It also offers greater value for money than its sister resort higher up. Courchevel 1550 directly below 1850 has good links to the ski and snowboard area and has grown in size and popularity during the last few years. Mountain Restaurants and Apres Ski in Courchevel
A huge choice of mountainside eateries are available including everything from good value lunch stops to Michelin starred establishments. The Bel Air at the top of the 1650 gondola is good value and serves traditional Savoyarde food. On the way down from Saulire, Chalet de Pierres serves high quality food on a sunny terrace and is certainly worth a visit. Le petit Savoyarde and L’Eterlou in Courchevel 1650 both serve good quality pizzas.The sheer abundant choice of restaurants and bars in Courchevel is fantastic. For a 2 star Michelin experience try Le Bateau Ivre in Courchevel 1850 which is situated in the hotel Pommes Du Pin. Hotel Le Chabichou has similar status. In Courchevel 1650 prices are considerably lower. L'Eterlou and La Montagne come highly recommended. In Courchevel 1550, L'Oeil de Boeuf is situated in an old mountain barn. In Le Praz, La Table de Mon Grand Père in Hotel Les Peupliers has a great reputation for traditional cuisine. L'Ecurie is in an old converted stable that has a fantastic atmosphere.
The bars and cafes in Courchevel are often upmarket and sophisticated. Check your emails and enjoy a drink at Prends ta luge et Tire toi in Courchevel 1850. Le Pyggys Pub is also a popular venue, and a DJ plays music at The Purple. In Courchevel 1650 Le Bubble is a popular place to check emails and relax after a day on the mountain. Le Plouc is an intimate bar and good later on in the evening. In Courchevel 1550 The Glacier Bar, Le Barouf, and Chanrossa are all popular and recommended places to enjoy the evening. In the more sedate Le Praz the evenings are quieter, but L'Escorch'vel is a popular choice for a drink.
